4 Simple Ways To Get The Most Out Of Google+

Google PlusIf you’re on Google+, then you know it can be quite different from other social media platforms. Some may even say it’s confusing when you first start out, but it really just takes a bit of getting used to. Once you master all the basics, then you’ll be able to handcraft your account and tailor it specifically to your life and your personal interests. Check out the list below to discover four simple ways to get the most out of your Google+ account!

1. Follow Your Favorite Brands

As Google+ continues to grow in popularity, more and more companies are creating accounts in order to connect with their customers on a larger social scale. This is because social media has become a vital element of brand marketing, so a lot of companies create posts that are exclusive to each social networking platform. So even if you’re already following your favorite brands on other sites like Twitter or Facebook, you should still follow them on Google+. You’ll be able to see all their updates, which could include some awesome information that you wouldn’t be able to obtain elsewhere like deals, promo codes, breaking company news, and more.

2. Join Communities

One word comes to mind when we think of Google+ communities—awesome. For the newbies out there, communities are pages that are formed around a certain topic of interest, and it’s safe to say that there is a community for everything you can imagine. These pages operate like open forums where users can connect with other like-minded individuals to talk about the topic at hand whether it’s animals, food, surfing, yoga, movies, etc. So, find some communities that are centered around your interests, and you’ll be sure to connect with others who share your passion.

3. Take Advantage Of Hangouts

Google+ hangouts are unique to this social media platform because you can have a group video chat with several other users at one time. Facebook offers it’s own version of video chat, but it’s only one on one, and there’s no option for additional users to join. With Google+ hangouts, you can conference in your friends, family, coworkers, or study buddies and it’s just like a real group meeting. This is perfect for those times when you’re super busy and can’t make it to a meeting, or your group members have conflicting schedules. Or, you can simply use it to round up all your friends and just hang out online!

4. Manage Your Circles

On Google+, you can think of circles as groups, and categorizing your connections into these groups can make your life a lot easier when it comes to content sharing. When you first create your account, you’re given four default circles: Friends, Family, Acquaintances, and Following, but you can always add more by clicking the “Create New Circle” option. A lot of people create a circle for “Work” so that they can put all their coworkers and business contacts into one group. Imagine you’re at a party and you’d rather not have everyone from the office see the photos you’re posting—you can tailor that post so that it’s hidden from people in your “Work” circle.

Now, those don’t seem so tricky, do they? Like we said, joining a new social media site can be a shock to the system, but once you get all the basics down, you’ll be a Google+ master in no time. What’s even more important is that you’ll be confident that you’re using your account to it’s full potential, and that’s always a good feeling!

      Hi Alex,

You are more than welcome, thanks for the feedback.

Google+ and other similar platforms all add value, it’s just a matter of how much value they add versus the work you put into them 🙂

      Best of luck!

Google+ offers a great impetus on the ranking scores of your website, but never forget that content remains the King.. You can’t expect a superficial site to make full use of the platform..Google is a very serious company and its algorithm is meant to be serious and boost only creative users and efforts..

  20. DarioVe says:

I still dont get it guys. I cant find the added value of Google+. I take into account whatever you have noticed but still I believe that all these tools are offered by other platforms and possibly in a higher level. maybe I have to get deeper to its features to understand its pioneer nature. The most solid reason I can find for trying n trying to find this -hidden to me- value is Google, that wouldnt launch a lower efficiency platform. Anyway, maybe I ‘m wrong. It wont be the first time 🙂
