The first way is by crawling the web and discovering new links. If you happen to have gotten a link from a site and Google crawls it, there’s a good chance your site will get indexed fairly quickly.

The second way is more theory than hard truth. Some SEOs believe that when new domains are registered, the registrars share this public data with the search engines. A new domain registration would be the signal for a new website or just a domainer purchasing a new domain.

Either way, the search engines will crawl the domain and check to see if indeed there is a site there.

If you don’t mind submitting to one search engine at a time, you can visit each search engine individually and submit your URL.

• Submit to Google: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url?pli=1
• Submit to Bing: http://www.bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url
• Submit to Yahoo: not necessary because Yahoo gets its search results from Bing.

Sometime ago I wrote a post about Google releasing “Google
Caffeine“.  What I could take from the limited
information available was there’s not going to be much of a change to the algorithm
and it’s structured more for speed, seeing a lot of “under the hood” changes.

This previous announcement was late last year, since
then there have been murmurs about the shift in search engine results though
nothing concrete from Google themselves, well today Google announced the completion
of Caffeine.

Google Caffeine will provide fresher search results,
previously when searching on Google some of the results returned may have been
out of date, this is due to the speed at which Google found and indexed new
content. Caffeine has been built to find and index content MUCH quicker,
delivering quicker and more recent search results.

What does this mean for all of us that rely on
Google search engine traffic, no real major surprises here? Keep your content
fresh, up to date and make sure your web pages are quick to load.

I guess from now on we will be seeing even more social media content and sites in the Google SERP’s?

The beauty of Goby is it searches multiple event calendars; presenting all possible events in the one location. From past experience this has always proven to be somewhat of a pain, organizing and trying locate weekend activities.

Another brilliant feature, best suited to the traveler is the “Places to stay” feature, helping the user locate hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts and more.

Since I love my travel and always keen to check out new hostels I decided to tease myself with a search for hostels near Los Angeles .

The results page was packed with valuable information and a couple of nice tools enabling me to drill down and refine my search. Other handy features included “What’s nearby”, photos of the hostels and more.

Goby is a brilliant idea, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out plus some regional versions of the platform would also be nice i.e. UK, Australia etc.

Definitely worth a look!

Yes, the little engine that could, can and just might (well, they’re a way off yet).

Yes Bing has yet again closed the gap on Google, increasing search engine market share to 10.7 % in August. This growth indicated by its massive Month on Month growth of 22.1%, leaving Yahoo for dead with a negative growth rate of -4.2% (ouch).

Google still has a strong hold on the search space with 64.6% share though I do like to entertain the thought that one day Google will share some of this and the game will even up.
