I would say the most important thing is to write about something that you care about, even if you're not an expert about it (yet). Your passion will come through and readers will stick with you. If you're writing about something only because you think one day it will be profitable then you'll likely have given up way before the day it could have become profitable due to a loss of interest and/or running out of things to write about.
